An Afternoon with Pet Pros Helps Update Skills

Dory, one of the volunteer dogs, is amazingly calm during the bandaging demo.

VCA NW Veterinary Specialists held a great class in canine/feline first aid today. While it was hard to give up such a nice fall day, the four-hour class was worth it.

I got to practice CPR on a virtual dog model, picked up pointers on bandaging, trauma and toxicity.  My emergency kit will be up to date as well. The folks at VCA were great...they even brought some volunteer dogs for us to practice on.

Border collie Ruby lies quietly while having her pulse checked.
